Trust & Obey

What Scripture says about Disciplined Giving

Is giving a tithe (1/10th from all your income) found in the              Old Testament  or New testament?   ______________________________

    Jesus said:

“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.. 19 Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.”  Matthew 5:17-19

Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.   2 Corinthians 9:7

17 Beware lest you say in your heart, ‘My power and the might of my hand have gotten me this wealth.’ 18 You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your fathers, as it is this day.  Deuteronomy 8:17,18

Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine. Proverbs 3:9-10

Reasons for tithing:

1) Desire to _____________________ / ____________________________ the clear __________________________ & _________________________ of Scripture

6 but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.              Exodus & Deuteronomy

“If you love me, keep my commands.   John 14:15

“What sorrow awaits you teachers of religious law and you Pharisees. Hypocrites! For you are careful to tithe even the tiniest income from your herb gardens, (Mint Dill & Cummin) but you ignore the more important aspects of the law—justice, mercy, and faith. You should tithe, yes, but do not neglect the more important things Matthew 23:23

2)  Desire to _________________________ your ________________________ & _______________________________ is in God.

They will have no fear of bad news; their hearts are steadfast, trusting in the Lord  Psalm 112:7

So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.   Matthew 8:25-34

3)  Desire to be a part of _________________________________  strong, __________________________ effective local church.

“That there may be food in my house”  Malachi

4) Desire to be in a position where God can bless your life

Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. 11 I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not drop their fruit before it is ripe,” says the Lord Almighty.

Malachi 3:9-11
